Answer
Aldosterone is a hormone that regulates sodium and potassium levels in the body. It promotes the reabsorption of sodium ions in the kidneys, which in turn leads to an increase in water retention.
As sodium is reabsorbed, water follows osmotically. This increases blood volume and blood pressure. Additionally, aldosterone enhances the excretion of potassium, helping to maintain electrolyte balance.
