Blood is moved from the right ventricle to the lungs through a sequence of events. First, the muscle of the right ventricle contracts, which increases the pressure of the blood within the chamber. This pressure forces the blood into the pulmonary artery. The blood then travels through this artery toward the lungs, where it will be oxygenated.
