Answer
Mineral ions are absorbed by root hair cells through the process of active transport. This process requires energy to move ions against a concentration gradient. Since the concentration of mineral ions in the soil is low, they are transported into the plant cells where the concentration is higher, allowing the plant to uptake necessary nutrients effectively.
