Receptor cells in the skin detect changes in temperature and send this information through sensory neurons. These neurons transmit electrical impulses to the spinal cord, where the information is relayed to the brain. The brain then processes this information and can send signals to initiate responses, such as shivering or sweating, to regulate body temperature.
