The CFL lamp converts a greater percentage of electrical energy into light energy compared to the halogen lamp. For the same input of electrical energy, the CFL produces more light energy (8 J) whereas the halogen lamp only produces 2 J. Therefore, the CFL is more efficient because it wastes less energy, meaning more of the energy supplied is converted into useful light energy.
