The gas exerts pressure on the sides of the cylinder by making collisions with the walls. Each time a gas particle collides with the wall, it exerts a force on the wall. Since many particles are constantly moving and colliding, this results in a consistent pressure being applied.

As the temperature of the gas increases, the kinetic energy of the gas particles also increases. This causes the particles to move faster and collide with the walls of the cylinder more frequently and with greater force, thereby increasing the pressure inside the cylinder.
