Definition:

• Monatomic elements are chemical elements that exist as single, unattached particles or atoms. They are stable and do not usually form molecules with other atoms.

Examples:

• Group 0 elements, also known as noble gases, are examples of monatomic elements. This group includes helium, neon, and argon.

Noble Gases:

• Noble gases have full outer energy levels, making them highly stable and unreactive with other elements.
• Examples of noble gases:
  • Helium (He)
  • Neon (Ne)
  • Argon (Ar)

Low Melting and Boiling Points:

• Monatomic elements, such as noble gases, have low melting and boiling points because they are easily separated by overcoming the weak forces of attraction between the individual atoms.

Non-Conductors:

• Monatomic elements, including noble gases, are non-conductors of electricity because they do not have free electrons available for electrical conduction.
