A livestock unit is a measure used in agriculture to quantify the amount of feed consumed by various types of farm animals. Importantly, it is based on the feed intake of a mature cow weighing approximately 550 kg. The livestock unit represents not only this animal’s needs but can also be used to equivalent 12 tonnes of dry matter consumed per annum.
