2. Desertification: The combination of drought and overgrazing leads to desertification, further reducing arable land and resources.
3. Water Scarcity: There is a significant lack of freshwater resources, which hampers both drinking water availability and irrigation for agriculture.
4. Migration: As conditions worsen, communities face displacement, leading to internal migration and sometimes cross-border issues.

These challenges have profound socio-economic impacts on the Sahel region. The food insecurity resulting from droughts can lead to malnutrition, particularly in vulnerable populations such as children. Desertification diminishes the land quality, reducing the region's capacity to support livelihoods, thus exacerbating poverty levels. Water scarcity often leads to conflicts over resources, which can escalate into violence.
