Capacitance is defined as the ability of a system to store electric charge per unit voltage. Mathematically, it can be expressed as:
C=VQ
where:
- C is the capacitance measured in farads (F),
- Q is the charge stored measured in coulombs (C), and
- V is the potential difference measured in volts (V).
This relationship indicates that the larger the charge stored for a given voltage, the greater the capacitance of the system.
