Le Futur Proche

Le futur proche is used to talk about actions in the near future.

It corresponds to the English structure going to + infinitive, and emphasises that there is already an intention behind the action.

Aller (Present Tense)

Je vais	I go / I am going
Tu vas	You go / You are going
Il/Elle/On va	He/She/One goes / He/She/One is going
Nous allons	We go / We are going
Vous allez	You go / You are going
Ils/Elles vont	They go / They are going

Examples:

• Je vais appeler ma mère tout de suite. (I am going to call my mother right away.)
• Ils vont partir dans quelques minutes. (They are going to leave in a few minutes.)
• Nous allons manger maintenant. (We are going to eat now.)
• Elle va rentrer à la maison bientôt. (She is going to come home soon.)
• Je vais parler à mon professeur. (I am going to speak to my teacher.)
• Tu vas finir tes devoirs ce soir. (You are going to finish your homework tonight.)
• Il va prendre le bus pour aller au travail. (He is going to take the bus to work.)
• Nous allons regarder un film ce soir. (We are going to watch a movie tonight.)
• Vous allez manger au restaurant demain. (You are going to eat at the restaurant tomorrow.)
• Je vais faire mes devoirs après l'école. (I am going to do my homework after school.)
• Elle va sortir avec ses amis ce week-end. (She is going to go out with her friends this weekend.)
