Active Plate Margins

Active plate margins occur where two tectonic plates interact with one another. These are areas of intense geological activity due to the movements of plates at their boundaries. They are often associated with convergent (destructive) or transform (conservative) plate boundaries.

Passive Plate Margins

Passive plate margins occur where there is no significant plate interaction. These areas are typically found along the edges of plates that are not at a plate boundary. They are tectonically inactive and experience minimal geological activity.
