COP26 is Well Meaning but Ineffective
COP 26 is not well meaning, nor is it well effective, except for one thing. No, not at coming up with solutions to global warming but rather pushing blame onto the global south, China and India. These 12 daylong conferences allow the US and the EU to avoid taking responsibility for their actions that caused our earth to be in the state it is now.
Expecting India and China to no longer use coal during each of their respective industrial revolutions is naive, especially when the countries condemning them are the same ones sending all their products to be made in China and India.
The tone-deaf behaviour of world leaders throwing pennies in a fountain, acting as if they are as helpless to global warming as the rest of us. World leaders won't stop caring about profit and start working together to fix their destruction to the earth. It's simply not in their best interests.
Children working for foreign factories in the global south, people having large families in the global south due to not having access to contraception or education are not causing global warming. It is the west, corporations, over consumption and the desire to colonize that seems to flow through European and American culture that are causing global warming.
Only when the leaders of those countries will we ever see and effort to change our ways and actually save our planet, but until then we will be forced to see our planet slowly die off bit by bit, day by day, wildfire by wildfire and drought by drought.
