For my choreography PAT, I chose the theme Every Day is Earth Day. I focused on the element of Space, as we used South African beaches to highlight plastic pollution's impact on nature. We incorporated a Canon to illustrate the waves washing ashore, portraying the movement of plastic debris. Elements such as Force and Direction were essential in showcasing the urgency of the theme, with dancers moving in contrasting ways to emphasize the chaos of waste in the environment.

Step 1: Research/Investigation - I researched environmental issues to create an informed dance piece. This deepened my understanding and informed movement choices.

Step 2: Improvisation - Dancers explored various movements that expressed concern for plastic pollution, using improvised sessions to enhance creativity.

Step 3: Selection of Performance Space - I selected a beach location to align our performance with the theme, ensuring audience engagement with the pertinent setting.

Step 4: Selecting Music/Accompaniment - I chose music that amplifies urgency and reflects the theme, creating an emotional connection for the audience.

Step 5: Selecting Production Elements - Elements such as costumes made of recycled materials were chosen to visually complement our message.

Step 6: Reflection - After completing this process, I reflected on each phase, assessing the effectiveness and cohesiveness of the choreography.
