Definition: The tone is the feeling or atmosphere created by the author through dialogue, stage directions, and the actors' voices.

How Tone is Created

• In Nothing But The Truth,the tone is shown through:
• Dialogue – the way characters speak.
• Stage Directions – instructions like [pause] or [laughs] indicate tone changes.
• Actors' Voices – the way lines are spoken affects tone.

Changes in Tone Throughout the Play

• Angry – When characters argue.
• Calm & Hopeful – When conflicts are resolved.
• Humorous – Light-hearted moments.

Mood

Definition: The mood is the feeling or emotion the audience experiences while reading or watching the play.

How Mood is Created

• Setting – The environment and scene setup.
• Props – Objects used in the play.
• Actors' Voices & Movements – How lines are delivered and characters behave.
